The Thames Valley Education Fund (affiliated with the Thames Valley District School Board) and the United Way are working on the Best First Day drive again, to gather backpacks and supplies for students in need as kids head back to school this fall! We’re so excited to have adopted Emily Carr Public School this year for a small contribution of our own, but the drive needs so much more!
If you’re interested in donating a fully stocked backpack, a few supplies, or making a financial contribution to help purchase supplies for the drive, please visit https://unitedwayem.ca/best-first-day/ for details on what’s needed, where items can be dropped off, or to make donation online.
When are they collecting?
They’re hoping to have your donations before September 2 so that the kids have the supplies in time to start the new school year!
What are they looking for?
Elementary Backpacks:
Backpack, Markers/Pencil Crayons, Lunch Bags, Pencils, Pencil Cases, Water bottle, Notebooks, Scissors, Glue sticks
Secondary Backpacks
Backpacks, Markers, Pencil crayons, Scientific Calculators, Water bottle, Binders, Notebooks, Paper
Are you also interested in adopting a school?
From the Drive:
Is there a school in your neighbourhood you’d like to collect for? Perhaps your local workplace or organization wants to give directly to one school community (or more).
Email Lindsay at Lindsay.walker@tvdsb.ca to inquire – we have schools with a range of needs and quantity, making us confident we can arrange something!
